Complex dynamics of climate emotions among environmentally active Finnish and American young people

Climate emotions have become an increasingly salient issue since the beginning of 2000s. This paper draws on data from in-depth interviews United States (USA) and Finland to provide insight into complex dynamics climate in 23 environmentally active young people these two countries. The analysis centers main themes: (a) (b) identities felt social expectations. results support recent research about importance anger, grief, guilt as very common among people, although a broad range was recognized by participants. Some observations were made role cultural factors Through this analysis, article contributes understanding ways which expectations shape emotions, including feelings inadequacy obligation. Analysis experiences limited number shows prevalence thus supports arguments need tools set their responsibility context, order avoid negative consequences pressures.
